7 blunders on which mankind should have been ashamed in place of being proud as they did. No one knows how History is going to judge their acts, but some acts consequences are so predictable that it is a shame that we, humankind, didn’t foresee where that would lead us.
Cutting down forests… everywhere
I can understand cutting down of few trees for the expansion of land, for fuel, for wood, for farming and many other reasons; but still there can’t be enough reasons for doing away with forests totally. The speed with which last century has cleared forests one can’t help but see it as a war waged by humans against trees; and gloating in illusion of its victory. I don’t know when humankind will realize that in both way the loss is its.
Eugenics You can improve the quality of human species by stopping reproduction of “bad” genes and ensuring that “good” genes remain “unpolluted”. Yes, and unbelievably believer in such theory was just not one person, Adolf Hitler, but majority of early 20th century “thinkers”. Had not holocaust made people to realize the consequences of their thinking, the majority would have continued believing in it!
Women being the parameter of pride We all need parameters; but why to burden somebody, not something, with our needs. Come on, we can’t even have our slangs, epithets without thinking of women!
Making big dams We all want to control our lives; but this doesn’t give us permission to break the system of ecology. And still in our greed for power we keep on building such mega-structures thinking what magnificent agricultural achievement we are having. We need the child who can say that emperor is naked.
The concept of God We all need a philosophy to live with, but why should it give power to somebody imaginary? And then we have to fight proving that our imaginary power is more powerful than yours. It won’t stop there; we will make customs from and can get obeisance from anybody. Further it divides for you the humankind in to various sections, as if by getting a birth in a different religion following house you become different.
Gold A metal whose only real use was found in 20th century and still innumerable lives have lost for it. I really can’t understand what was sold to the early kings that they went nuts for such a stupid thing. Come on, you can’t eat it , you can’t use it as a shield, you can’t make a weapon from it, and there are far more glittering metals than it; and still the sight of it made every king go weak in knees, where there minds were.
Inventing Atom bomb There can’t be a rating to follies, but if anybody ever does, then it has to be the first. Annihilating the world by the press of one button is not power but impotency. And anybody could have foreseen the arms race which the technology would have unleashed, but in place of dropping the idea of making the bomb we dropped the bomb.
